Subject: [againstslaughter] DeKalb. Patrick Conboy
I spoke with Mr. Conboy at 8:00 am today, he was very cordial and supportive
however the facts are the Cavel deal is pretty much a done deal he said, as
they have the right to rebuild and insurance is paying for it. We talked about
what the economic gain was for DeKalb and he said employment, I said most of
those jobs go to "Illegals" in America . He said I know, he also
said that one thing that helped pass it was it was on American soil not
foreign even though foreigners are running it and benefiting from it. So it is
not something that really benefits DeKalb , only the Belgians and low life
Killer Buyers .He said he thought there was no problem with the permit to
rebuild unless it was building code related, ie electrical, ect. I asked if
there was full knowledge in the DeKalb community of this plant being rebuilt,
he said no, most opposition he has seen has been from other states and people
not in IL. He said to write letters to the Daily Chronicle, PO Box 587,
DeKalb, IL 60115. I asked if he was aware of HR 857, he wasn't and said
insurance money is paying for the rebuild so the Belgians aren't out anything
if it does pass. Because this plant operated for years there , it can reopen.
The only way I see here is public outcry, the people of DeKalb really don't
know what is going on. I have sent several messages to MSNBC, Imus in the
morning ect. We need powerful people to get on board to make this known.
