Dear Mr. Minor:  

Thank you for taking the time to write regarding House bill 1324.  I appreciate your interest on this matter as well as the opportunity to speak to your excellent concerns.  

House bill 1324 will make certain that there is no question as to whether or not it is legal to sell horsemeat for the purpose of human consumption in America.  My bill adds language to the existing statute to state explicitly that a person commits a crime if they sell, offer to sell, or exhibits for sale horsemeat as food for human consumption anywhere in the United States .   

This bill was brought to my attention by a group of concerned veterinarians, and not by Dallas Crown Plant.  Dallas Crown has served to employ hundreds of hard-working citizens for more than a decade now.  At no point have I ever received any type of contribution from the owners, agents, or employees of these plants.  I believe that my bill acts in the best interest of the families in district 4.  These families have always been my legislative priority.
