I have seen this thrown in the picture too many times. I really would love
to see some kind of documentation to support this. Surely if this was
going on in AZ... somebody would have written an article about it.
My God... where do these people come from???!!! They need support to
make these kinds of statements! We need to demand it. Did you
respond asking for any support to back this up?? What is this person's
name and contact information? I'll write a letter asking them a few
questions.

"I am a horse owner, but I disagree with you on the horses for meat.
I live in Arizona and the problem we have seen is that California has passed a
bill for not taking horses to slaughter. Those California people trailer
those older horses or horses they don't want anymore to the desert and set them
free. Nice thought but those horses who have never been out in the wild
and that are old cannot fend for themselves die a horrible death of starvation,
thirst, or killed by the wild animals that live in the desert and sometimes
while still alive are being torn apart to bleed to death.
Sorry I would rather have a horse be put down quickly used for meat or dogfood
than to have them suffer that way. If the horses are used for meat they
are trucked and handled carefully because if they were not the meat becomes
bruised and not good for meat. It's the same for all animals going to
slaughter.
The slaughter market does have a place in the horse industry, the AQHA
has sent letters about the issue to membership and state groups. You can
contact them for that letter if you want too. www.aqha.com
I am guessing that you do not eat meat since this is the way of meat production
for a cow, pig, chicken, sheep, turkey (gee thanksgiving), buffalo, deer, elk,
and other wild game. Seems that only Americans frown on horsemeat, I don't
think I would eat horsemeat but I know that in Japan and other countries its as
regular as beef.
Sorry cannot support you on this one!
