Subject: RE: AQHA Position on Live Horse Slaughter for
Human Consumption
Mary,
The
paper and positions you received were updated in October of 2003. The
public policy department at AQHA was responsible for drafting the language
that was included in both of the papers you received. Following is a
listing of the procedure used for adopting a position at AQHA.
1.
Issues or areas of concern may be introduced for position
consideration by an AQHA member, public policy committee member, or staff
member to AQHA’s Public Policy Committee.
2. The
Public Policy Committee will consider the issue and draft a proposed position
statement to be presented to the board of directors.
3. The
board of directors then review the proposed position prior to approval by
AQHA’s Executive Committee.
4.
The Public Policy Committee in a time constraint situation may
develop a proposed position statement for immediate consideration by the
AQHA Executive Committee.
Regarding your question about
the addresses of board members, this information is available in the back of
issues of
The Quarter Horse Journal.
Thanks for you concern,
Tim Case
