Subject: [againstslaughter] Update from Springfield

Yesterday was a combination of ups and downs.  The fact that the bill did not get called was a bit upsetting until Rep Molaro took the time to explain to all of us that with the limited time available this session (less than two days) to call the bill would not be according to procedure and we also have things we need to do still to get ready.

Good news:
We picked up more Yes votes yesterday and more co-sponsors.

Wonderful volunteers from this board came out in force with their friends and helped walk the halls, bringing the issue up close and personal to some of the senators and reps.  Thank you every one, it was a bitterly cold day and you were incredible to come.

The word here is that they have NO bill receiving as much attention as ours.  We are further ahead than any other bill on the process to be ready to be voted on in February.

We are having a meeting this morning with Rep Molaro and the lobbyists to plan the strategies for the next few weeks.

We will pull this off, this will be voted on and passed.

Gail will post more when she gets home today and I will also follow up when I get home tonight.
