Subject: [againstslaughter] Illinois update and next steps
Somewhere in the void are several messages from me that will post
when they find their way home.

What happened today:

The bill was called and the votes were:
55 for the bill
54 against the bill
7 abstained
2 absent

Illinois requires 60 or more to pass or fail a bill.  Because there were not at least 60 on either side Rep Molaro was able to
recall/table the vote and set the bill to be re-heard next week.   This is a good thing as it gives us time to regroup and call on the reps that changed their votes and find out why.

We need to answer the HCI charges and get the information in front of the house reps so they can understand the importance of this bill to the citizens.  There are way more than the 500 members of the HCI that are for the bill, the HCI does NOT represent the interests of the horse community at large.

I'll post more later if this posting works - otherwise I'm emailing someone to see if they can post for me.
