Dear Velda:

Your horse slaughter plant, Cavel International in DeKalb, Illinois, is a very seriously disturbing reality in our country.

Firstly, and importantly, inhumane treatment at your slaughterhouse results in prolonged suffering.  Please consider this in the way you conduct yourselves and STOP this suffering by reconsidering the way to you put the animals down and treat the animals while they are still alive.

We are working here in the US to make what you do illegal.  You must understand this is not a culturally accepted practice here.  I do not judge you because your culture finds eating horsemeat acceptable, but inhumane treatment is not acceptable in any culture.

Please know Cavel is not accepted, supported or wanted in anyway by anyone in this country and there is a passionate public outrage over this.  We are fighting for our horses and to have your plant and your practice entirely eliminated in the United States.  And we will succeed.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,  Jessica Christian  Austin, TX
