Subject: [againstslaughter] Bringing Cavel to an End
Mayor Sparrow,
Thank you for taking a moment to
read this letter from a proud fellow Illinois resident.
I am writing to let you know
that the state of Illinois is working aggressively to pass HB 3845, which will
make slaughter illegal in the US and bring Cavel's plans to reopen to an end.
As the process roles forward, it appears that we will be successful in
stopping Cavel before they are even able to open their doors.
I urge you and your counsel to
stand beside your RESIDENTS and not a foreign owned business THAT DOESN'T EVEN
PAY TARIFF ON ITS PRODUCT, and stop Cavel now.
Cavel is not currently open.
There are no jobs to be lost if the project is stopped before it is completed.
If the project is stopped before the building is erected, the land can more
easily be adapted to another industry and to bring OTHER new jobs into your
community.
Cavel tried to leave your small
town in the past, and stayed only when other communities would not have them.
They are not loyal to DeKalb, and the people of DeKalb most assuredly are not
loyal to them, based upon the response to the vigil held some weeks ago.
Don't let Cavel fool you with
misinformation, sir. They do not provide a service to the horse industry; they
have ruthless buyers who purchase perfectly good, healthy, usable horses out
from under unsuspecting families and farmers, put the animals through
torturous rides in double decker trailers too small for them to even properly
stand, going often days without water or food or rest, and then make multiple
attempts to place a bolt through the horse's brains to STUN them (not kill
them as recently quoted), and bleed them out, many still conscious and
fighting.
The EU has already banned
American beef, which is carefully regulated for safety. American horses are
not bred and raised for meat, and are fed dangerous carcinogenic medications
every day. Even if HB3845 is not successful in ending Cavel's new plans, any
day now the EU will likely ban American horsemeat, just as it has recently
banned ALL meat from Japan. Then Cavel will still go away. But your
constituents will remember that YOU stood up and supported this atrocity even
when your voters told you to stop it.
Stand by your people, Mayor
Sparrow. STOP CAVEL while you can still gain some positive press for yourself
from the process, before the rest of us stop them for you, and YOU have to
face your community and explain why the state of Illinois had to step in and
do what you would not.
Sincerely,
