disposal from U of I, available via phone to anyone
The University of Illinois Vet
school will assist a horse owner with a dying/deceased horse as follows:
1) Bring your horse in, they
will euthanize for $80 (if never seen before add $11 med records fee),
includes disposal. They MAY do a necropsy for teaching purposes, at their
discretion, no charge.
2) Horse is deceased, deliver
deceased horse to University. They will perform a necropsy (autopsy) and
dispose of a deceased horse brought to its facilities for $90 if it does not
have neurological problems; $100 if it does, INCLUDING disposal.
3) Horse has unusual illness and
owner cannot afford euthanasia/further care. University MAY accept the horse
as a donation, and at their discretion treat, perform surgery, or euthanize.
Owner relinquishes all rights, and pays NOTHING.
