Comment: Regarding the proposed rebuilding of the horse slaughterhouse in
DeKalb, thank you to ''At the Races'' for helping to get the word out
against those factories of horror. You are helping the country to hear our
voices.

You would be amazed at the number of people who don't even know this
barbaric industry exists. I am in the process of opening an office in DeKalb
to let the people of Illinois know that we are here to stay and that they
have the power to end this nightmare. Until the last horse is safe, we will
not rest.

A. A representative of Cavel International -- the Belgian-based concern that
hopes to rekindle the industrial killing ground near Northern Illinois
University -- has informed ''At the Races'' that he feels the column is
''highly agendaed'' against horse slaughter. It has been accused of worse
things.

Chris Berry of the Equine Protection Network advised that her group's new
slogan is: ''Keep American horses in the stable and off the table.''
