Subject: [againstslaughter] my phone conversation with
Goodlatte staffer long
I talked with Elizabeth Parker (she's a veterinarian & Texan
) on Wednesday. She is one of Mr. Goodlatte's staff members . She actually
returned my call from their office. She asked questions like "What about
all of the horses that are going to end up abandoned in parks, along side
the roads or left alone to starve ". She said," If euthanasia was made
more affordable then vets wouldn't make a profit." She asked me "Would
HR 857 really be enough for me and make me happy." I replied
YESSSSSSSS!!! I told her as a Texan I was so against the cruel mistreatment
these plants do to horses. She said "what do you mean cruel?"
I told her about how the captive bolt was not de-signed for horses ,but for
animals with short necks. I asked her if she'd been to one these plants,
she said yes. I asked her for how long? I said the only way you will find
out what really goes on there is to be there for several days to see the
fastest, most healthy horses and the worst of the bolt welders doing their hit,
miss thing. I told her how these plants go against our culture (And laws) as we
don't eat horseflesh. I told her 72% of us (Mason-Dixon poll) voted against it.
I told her about adopting my sweet 7 mo Belgian and how much I was
enjoying her. She finished by telling me they were looking at it very closely.
She said they problem they faced was making things worse for the horses
no-one wants if he lets the bill back out. She then told if I felt THAT strongly
against slaughter then call Rep Randy Neugebauer form my district.
Well I AM !!!
