I am writing you in hopes that you will support SB 1921 the lllinois legislation
that will ban horse slaughter for human consumption. I do so hope you share my
views and concerns on this matter .
Horses are not bred for human consumption. They receive potent and very toxic(at
least to humans) drugs and medicines .Some of these very things that have been
banned on cattle and other animals that are to be slaughtered for people to eat.
Most Americans find it repulsive that horses are slaughtered and exported for
our greedy neighbors in other countries to eat. Horses are considered companion
animals such as dogs and cats are ...would you eat your dog or cat ?? ..NO you
would not eat your
faithful pet . Why let that disgusting fate happen to our equines .God pardoned
horses from the life of being slain for their meat . They are a beast of burden
, On their backs America was founded . On their backs we created such wonderful
things as the US postal service that being teh off shoot of the Pony express.
Why let this icon of the united states be treated as a meager meal on some horse
eating foreigner's dinner table?
May I also bring to your attention the fact that in your state that animals
raised for food are exempt from state sales tax . If you allow Cavel the
horse slaughter plant due to open in march to open you will lose billions
of dollars in sales taxes every year if you allow horses to become
part of the quote "FOOD
CHAIN".
I beg of you to support SB 1921 and encourage others to do so . If at anytime
