The numbers given to Pat Dickey reflect the total Stolen and Recovered horses
that were reported to the California Bureau of Livestock Identification between
1995 and 2002. Recovered horses may or may not have been
stolen. They may have been strays that were returned to their legal owner.
These numbers reflect only the number of horses that were reported to the
Bureau. The actual number of stolen horses may be higher.
Therefore the actual number of horses reported stolen during the period 1994 to
2002 is as follows:
