Re:       Report of stolen horses recovered at Beltex and Dallas Crown over last 6 years
            Betty Brown’s Live Horse Slaughter Bill – HB 1324  

Dear Messrs. McCartney and Gray:  

This letter is a follow up to our earlier email correspondence and my April 25 letter wherein I asked you for statistics on numbers of horses reported stolen to TSCRA and numbers of stolen horses recovered at Beltex and Dallas Crown since 9/1/97 through the efforts of TSCRA and its two brand inspectors at the live horse slaughter plants in Fort Worth and Kaufman.  

You sent me an email message on April 14, 32 days ago, which said, “Our Executive Vice President and the Association's attorney are both reviewing this matter and we will be back in touch.”  I have heard nothing further from you, your executive vice president, or the Association’s attorney.  

For your reference, I am enclosing copy of my April 25 letter.  

Because the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association has been collecting $3 for each slaughtered horse at Beltex and Dallas Crown since Sep 1, 1997 , I would think you could afford to pay someone in your organization to gather statistics confirming the success of your efforts to recover stolen horses at the two Texas live horse slaughter plants.
