Sadly last Friday, the Illinois House of
Representatives FAILED the horses by not passing the bill to ban the slaughter
of horses in Illinois for human consumption! Therefore, the DeKalb horse
slaughter plant will reopen soon!
The following Representatives spoke against the bill to ban the slaughter of
horses for human consumption and urged fellow representatives to vote
"NO" on HB 649:
Rep. Charles Morrow III (D-Chicago), Rep. Frank Aguilar (R-Cicero), Rep. Robert
Pritchard (R-Sycamore), Rep. Bill Black (R-Danville), Rep. Jim Sacia (R-Pecatonica)
and Rep. Rich Brauer (R-Petersburg)
Rep. Bob Molaro (D-Chicago), Rep. Elizabeth Coulson (D-Glenview) and Rep. John
Fritchey (D-Chicago) were the only humanitarians who spoke in favor of this
important humane bill on the House floor.
