Bill
to ban horse slaughter stalls in Illinois House
|
|
The
expected vote in the Illinois House on the proposed bill to ban the
slaughter of horses for human consumption was postponed on Thursday.
The measure, Senate Bill 1921, would prevent Belgian-owned company Cavel International from operating a horse slaughterhouse that it is rebuilding in DeKalb, Illinois, which has been closed since the plant burned down in March 2002. No announcement was made on when the bill would next come up for a vote.—Alicia Wincze |
