I just got back home from Springfield, and as you can all well imagine I am
completely disgusted by what occurred on the House floor today. This was an
absolute disgrace by the members of the house today, both in the floor debate arguments
and the resulting vote. You all must know, that the outcome today, had ABSOLUTELY
NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ISSUE OF HORSE SLAUGHTER!!!!!
This loss for the horses today was in NO part due to the lack of efforts on our
part to get the facts into the hands of the IL Reps. The members of the House
who went back on their words or were swayed by "other" issues would
have done so no matter what we did or said.
It is now up to the constituents of the reps who committed to our members
a "yes" vote and did NOT KEEP THEIR WORDS to see to it that they are
held accountable for their lack of credibility.
Prior to the vote this afternoon, we had 68 solid committed "aye"
votes, and 4 who had indicated "aye" whom we did not fully trust.
Once I catch my breath, I will post the names of the members who PROMISED to
vote yes, and subsequently DID NOT KEEP THEIR WORD!!!!
This has been a truly devastating day for all of us, but we must not dwell on
this too long, as we still have much to accomplish in Washington.
