Subject: [againstslaughter] What's next for Illinois

Hi all,
Sorry it has taken me so long to post, but it has been even more hectic here, the last 2 days, than it was prior to our hearing.  We have been working on ideas to close Cavel down, or at the very least SLOW them down.  We are actively pursuing the license revocation; this will not stop them, but it will slow them down a bit. They will have to re-apply for their license AFTER  construction is complete and the facility is fully equipped. This is the PROPER licensing procedure.  We will see that they follow the LAW!! we are also pursuing other ideas, in fact today, Jan met with the Animal Law Society at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. We provided them with information that they will be researching with much vigor as the school submitted a letter of support to Molaro's office, along with several pages of signatures on a petition.  I am not at full liberty to discuss what they are researching, just yet, but as soon as we have a definitive plan is place, I will let everyone know.  Other recent happenings:  Last night I did a lengthy interview with the Northern Star.  It went well.  we will see how they print it. I gave them lots of info, told them the real truth of the level of support this legislation has. Asked them to be the voice of truth for the Community of Dekalb.  the people of Dekalb have a right to know the facts.  Not lies and propaganda!!  I gave them a copy of the falsified license.  This is the 1st time I have disclosed this document.  I was not at liberty to disclose until now. They asked for a copy of the slaughter tape, they received that as well.  I supplied them with copies of all the letters of support for SB 1921 from the major players in the IL horse industry.  They appeared to be quite surprised!!  This morning I did another interview.  This was a BIGGY!! the Thoroughbred Times!!  They interviewed Jan yesterday, me today. I also, supplied the Times reporter with a copy of the infamous license. We are getting really good media exposure right now and I am concentrating on keeping this in the news.  Please, keep trying to reach out to all media!!  Monday, a TV reporter from Rockford is coming to my farm for a TV investigative report she is doing on horse slaughter.  CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT ONE!! We are also, working on FUND-RAISING. Now that our legislation has been delayed, we are going to need a  lot of $$$ to keep us in the game.  We are planning a fund-raiser at Hawthorne real soon.  Will post details as soon as available.  We are going to solicit donations from the racing industry to hire lobbyists, and meet other expenses. We are also trying to raise the funds necessary to do an official poll in Illinois.  As we all know, politicians love 2 things: money and votes!!  The polls taken in TX, KY and UT are some of our best ammunition.  Nothing tells the story of how Americans feel better than a poll. This is going to cost approximately 4-5 thousand to do. In the packets we distributed to the reps and senators this week we had
official poll results, copies of the Il Horse industries big wigs letters, a fact sheet of what the Il racing industry does for the economy of IL, and the congressional findings on horse slaughter. We are waiting on a very important letter of support.  We expect to have a letter from the Teamsters who are 110,000 strong supporting the bill. WE have much to do to prepare for the next legislative session. Anyone with suggestions, please, weigh in. We need to work up another plan of attack for Bill O'Reilly, Dateline, 60 Minutes etc. We need NATIONAL COVERAGE! Many, many, thank you's to everyone for your tremendous efforts in Illinois.

WE, AS A TEAM WILL WILL GET THIS DONE!!!
